With the school not having a dedicated nursery facility, and with the possibility of government grants, it was decided that there was an opportunity to provide a new nursery block to allow up to 30 children a well-resourced, free flowing setting to learn inside out outside.
The Qube were called in on this project, after the school heard about another nursery project they were undertaking within the area. The Qube visited site and instantly knew they could value engineer the schools’ drawings to better use the space and incorporate the schools many requirements. Health and Safety was the key factor on this project as all material deliveries and construction traffic had to come through the open playground, the Qube managed this through controlled traffic systems and designated delivery times. The build area enabled us to fence off the playground to comply with the school’s request of keeping the remaining playground open to the children during break times.
Sandra Dorrington, Headteacher, Canvey Island Infant School –
‘Our project was handled the way it was explained and that’s what we as a school really appreciated. They handled everything from the initial phone call through to sign off at the end, whilst keeping a weekly communication channel throughout, with constant updates and any potential issues being highlighted. I would certainly recommend anyone to take advantage of their in-house knowledge and architectural / structural capacities to ensure the project is where it needs to be, they certainly have the knowledge and customer engagement.’
